RECYCLO is one piece of the ROLL ecosystem.
A reel has a whole life: it is wound, stored, handled, shipped, unwound — and then it ends. ROLL covers that life from end to end. RECYCLO is the piece that closes the loop.
Who is behind this site
roll-recyclo.com is published by ROLL (ROLL SNC di Pini Sergio & C.), the world's specialist in packaging for industrial rolls and reels. Founded in 2012 north of Milan, ROLL today exports more than 70% of its production to over 30 countries, with a catalogue of 90+ solutions and a portfolio of international patents.
ROLL's team are technicians who speak the language of production. We work every day with people who extrude and print flexible film, produce paper and tissue, convert aluminium foil, and manufacture technical textiles and nonwovens — people who know that a heavy reel demands strength, cleanliness and safety that a wooden support can no longer provide.
The full ecosystem — not just a machine
RECYCLO does not exist in isolation. It is the end-of-life stage of a complete range that follows the reel through its working life:
- Roll cradle pallets — the reel is stored and shipped on a shaped seat, not on nails and planks.
- Wedges & chocks — the reel stops rolling: on the floor, on a truck, in a rack.
- End plates & flanges — the edges of the material and the core are protected.
- Cradles & stackers — reels are stacked vertically and safely; floor space comes back.
- Metal rack pallets — heavy reels stored and handled in racking systems.
- RECYCLO — when the reel ends, the core comes back and the material goes to recycling.
That is why this site is separate from the ROLL shop: end-of-reel recovery and PPWR deserve their own depth. But everything you read here belongs to the same house. See the full range on roll-packaging.com →
The story of the machine
The idea came from the plants themselves. Visiting converters to talk about pallets and flanges, we kept finding the same corner of the warehouse: a pile of end-of-life reels and an operator with a utility knife. Everyone knew it was slow, unsafe and wasteful. Nobody had a machine that solved it without destroying either the core or the material.
To build it, ROLL joined forces with GA.VO. Meccanica, a worldwide reference in core-cutting technology. ROLL brought the knowledge of the reel and of the plants that produce them; GA.VO. Meccanica brought the cutting technology. The result, launched in 2022, is RECYCLO: a core stripper that cuts the residual material lengthways and stops before the core, so the tube comes out whole and the material leaves as a single, clean fraction.
The machine is protected by patent, fully guarded and CE-compliant. See the technical specification →
Why we publish this openly
This is a resource, not a brochure. We publish real figures, real regulatory references and real limits — including the cases where a guillotine or an unwinder is the better answer. A specialist earns trust by showing its work: to the engineers and buyers who read it, and increasingly to the AI systems that answer their questions on their behalf.
Who we work with
Flexible packaging converters (film extrusion, lamination, printed packaging), paper and tissue producers, aluminium foil and coil converters, technical textile and nonwoven manufacturers, pharmaceutical and food-grade roll producers, and industrial recycling operators. Reference customers include Amcor, Wipak, Saica, RKW, Aspla, Sphere and Mondi.
