End-of-reel recovery & PPWR — a resource by ROLL, packaging for industrial rolls and reels

English
PPWR & conformity

Where end-of-reel recovery meets the regulation.

This page situates RECYCLO within the regulatory framework and points to ROLL's formal conformity statements. It is guidance, not legal advice.

The framework, in brief

The PPWR (Reg. (EU) 2025/40) replaces Directive 94/62/EC and applies in general from 12 August 2026, with design-for-recycling from 2030 and recyclability at scale from 2035. It sits alongside the harmonised European packaging standards EN 13427–13432 (composition, source reduction, reuse, recycling and energy recovery), including EN 13429 on reusable packaging, and the material identification codes of Decision 97/129/EC.

How recovery supports conformity

  • Reuse (EN 13429). Recovering the core intact evidences reuse of a packaging component.
  • Recyclability (PPWR 2030/2035). Clean single-resin separation keeps the material recyclable in practice, not only in principle.
  • Material identification. Recovered fractions can be sorted by resin family, in line with the EU coding system.
